About the Class

Maintaining a regular yoga practice is beneficial physically, mentally and emotionally. With patience and practice, you will discover that you can go beyond what you thought was possible.
Karen teaches Hatha Yoga with some Vinyasa Flow elements.
Ha-tha means sun-moon acknowledging the sweet union of opposites. Hatha Yoga consists of yoga postures practised at a pace accessible to all, as well as, pranayama and seated meditation for healing and well-being. The seated meditation offered during class is brief. It serves the purpose of establishing the skill of seated meditation and gaining insight into its profound benefits.
Vinyasa Flow is characterised by smooth transitions from one pose to another cultivating present moment awareness. Often, breath is co-ordinated with movement.
A guided relaxation is included at the end of every class to wind down and rejuvenate.
General classes are suitable for all levels, from beginner to experienced. During the class, options are given to cater for students' varying needs and abilities. Karen will encourage some students to use yoga props, such as blocks, a strap, chair, or blanket to enable him/her to participate fully in the class safely. Yoga props are excellent tools on a student's journey. They assist in physically aligning the body to optimise energy flow.
Please bring your own yoga mat and other yoga equipment - blocks, strap, blanket, cushion - you would like to use during class. A yoga mat will be provided if you do not have one. You will also be supplied with cleaning wipes to sanitise the mat before returning it. A yoga mat is essential for every class but other props are optional.
Bookings are no longer required as the Hall can accommodate a large class while still complying with social distancing requirements.
If you are feeling unwell, please do not attend class. Karen will cancel the class if she is unwell. Please check the "Class Time, Location, and Prices" page on this website or the Feel Good Yoga Facebook page before attending in case of a last minute cancellation.
If you have any injuries or health conditions, you should seek medical advice before doing any form of physical exercise, including yoga. Please inform Karen in advance if you have a medical condition which will affect your practice, particularly, if you have difficulty performing everyday functional movements, such as, lifting your arms, lying on your front, kneeling, folding forward, or sitting on the floor, so that a modified practice can be prepared for you. During the class, you are encouraged to pause and rest when you feel out of breath or experience discomfort.
Narangba Community Hall is spacious with timber flooring, ceiling fans, toilets, and a car park.
The class has been running since 2009 and runs throughout the year with the exception of a two or three week break over the Christmas period. Occasionally, the class may be cancelled or moved to the smaller Dance Room below the Main Hall on direction from the Encircle Hall Co-ordinator to make way for other hall hirers, or due to an unforeseen circumstance. If this occurs, notifications will be provided at the very earliest opportunity. A notification will be posted on the Feel Good Yoga Facebook page and this website. Please "like" the Feel Good Yoga Facebook page if you would like to be informed of any changes.
Outdoor yoga is held occasionally at beautiful Norfolk Lakes Park in Narangba when the Main Hall is unavailable, or for a change of scenery and to enjoy nature. The class runs for 60 minutes. Check this website or the Feel Good Yoga Facebook page for an upcoming date.
Karen's class is designed for adults, however, children over the age of 12 years old who are interested in yoga are welcome to participate under parental supervision. Yoga classes for children specifically can be found at http://www.findyoga.com.au/.
Ensure you wear comfortable clothes and do not practise on a full stomach. It is not recommended to do yoga immediately after eating a meal, however, a light snack or breakfast before class is fine. The Hall does not have heating, so during the colder months, wear layers and bring a fleecy throw to cover yourself during relaxation.
If you are new to the class, please arrive a little earlier to introduce yourself and complete a form.
Shoes are not worn during yoga. Please store your shoes just inside the entrance to the Hall.
Please ensure your mobile phone is switched off or on silent during class.
Hand sanitiser is provided.
